SECURITY

The port is a protected area and its premises are fenced and well lit at night. All movements involving persons and/or vehicles, cargo going in and out of the port premises must have valid pass/documents. Round the clock surveillance is maintained by the Authority’s security personnel. Security personnel are also trained in fire fighting.

Delivery and receiving of cargo can be arranged outside these hours provided written approval by the Customs Department is obtained.

APPROACH

The navigation channel from the pilot station is buoyed and restricted by two bars. The Outer Bar of sand bottom, located about 2 nautical miles east south-east of Tanjong Po, has a depth of 5.2mACD whilst the Inner Bar, with a depth of 5.1mACD, lies approximately one nautical mile south-east of Muara Tebas.

The tidal range is approximately 4.5 metres.

It has been planned to dredge the approach channel by 2 metres deeper to allow vessels drawing a draught of 9.5m to berth at Senari Terminal...

PILOTAGE

Pilotage services are provided by the Marine Department. Notification for pilotage service must be made at least 24 hours in advance by telex to MA 70933 or FAX: +60 82 331 349.

The pilot station is at one nautical mile north-east of Tanjong Po Lighthouse at co-ordinates 1°44’02” N - 100°31’08” E. During the north-east monsoon, the station is moved to Embang and Senari Leads at co-ordinates 1°39’03” N - 110°31’03” E..
